TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 46: Gamescom 2020 Special
Monday Aug 31, 2020
Monday Aug 31, 2020
When it comes to gaming conferences, the overall approach has had to drastically change during the current pandemic. Nevertheless, the much anticipated Gamescom 2020 went ahead in a new format and kicked off proceedings with a two-hour live stream full of games, before following up with a whole load of daily content. In TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 46 we’ll go over the personal highlights, and some lowlights, of the four-day event. There are tons of games to discuss, so let’s dive straight in.
For this episode we roped in Gareth, James, Richard and William - the awesome foursome - and after an initial set of viewpoints, the guys talk non-stop about the games coming to the major platforms including Xbox Series X, PS5, VR and more. Undoubtedly the AAA titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, and Dragon Age 4 are worth a mention, with each providing vastly different insights. There is also a lot of Star Wars related excitement too due to the presence of a LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga new trailer, a sneak peek at a Star Wars Squadrons mission, and a Sims 4 expansion.
If you’re hoping to hear about the indie scene, then we’ve got you covered in that department as well. There’s the beautifully melancholic Haven, the exploration-focused Sable, the intriguing puzzler Love, an intensely scary experience in Song of Horror, and a mysterious introduction to Unknown 9: Awakening.
We’re really not kidding when we say that there’s a whole lot more on top of all that too - yes, we are spoiling you. You can expect to also find information regarding WWE 2K Battlegrounds, Medal of Honor, Scarlet Nexus, Little Nightmares II, The Medium and a couple of other games.

TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 45: A DC FanDome Special - Bat-tastic!
Tuesday Aug 25, 2020
Tuesday Aug 25, 2020
With the likes of the San Diego Comic-Con cancelled, DC conjured up their very own virtual event to promote a host of upcoming content. Hence, the recent DC FanDome extravaganza has treated us to all sorts of news and sneak peeks revolving around the DC Universe - or shall we say, Multiverse. So prepare for gaming, film and TV discussion in TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 45, for this is a DC FanDome special and it’s Bat-tastic!
Unfortunately, there were no DC Comics experts on-hand, so it’s down to Gareth, James and Richard to fill us in on the highlights and lowlights this week. They dive straight into Warner Bros Montreal’s Gotham Knights, which looks to allow the Bat family a chance to shine. In stark contrast, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League from Rocksteady will focus on Harley Quinn and the gang. Despite both offerings being well-presented, one seems to be a more exciting prospect to our team than the other.
Moving onto films, and the gritty new incarnation of Bruce Wayne’s alter-ego in The Batman certainly raised eyebrows. The trio were also fascinated by the character reveals for the undoubtedly bonkers The Suicide Squad; especially the role set to be played by Nathan Fillion. Zack Snyder’s Justice League got a mention, but some people remain unconvinced as to whether it’ll be worth the hassle. Even though there wasn’t much to see, Black Adam and The Flash did enough to leave a lasting impression. With the Wonder Woman 1984 release just around the corner, that may tide us over for now.
Obviously, the podcast couldn’t wrap up without going over the direction in which Titans is heading for its third season. It’s expected to introduce a couple of rather familiar baddies, that’s for sure.

TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 44: Twin Peaking into the new Xbox UI
Friday Aug 21, 2020
Friday Aug 21, 2020
After the recent setbacks for Microsoft, it’s been a relatively easy-going week in comparison; but that’s not to say there’s nothing happening in gaming. With new releases hitting the digital stores, fresh details about PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, and a peek at the Xbox Series X UI, TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 44 has plenty to offer - and then some!
Gareth and James are joined by Richard this week, kicking things off with what they’ve done lately. Their viewing habits mean there’s a blast from the past in the form of Twin Peaks, a plea to check out Succession, and the unearthing of a gem in the gaming-focused Netflix documentary, High Score.
Gaming-wise, and someone’s (guess who?) loving the locomotive life of Train Sim World 2, while Richard’s rocking out in the rhythmic Double Kick Heroes. Unfortunately, James didn’t have the best of times defending a castle in Wizards: Wand of Epicosity, which led him to give Creature in the Well a go for a chance of experiencing a bit of fun. There are other games discussed too, so be sure to tune-in to get the low-down on them all.
Then they move onto a very topical quiz - hosted by Richard - which sees Gareth and James testing their wealth of gaming knowledge in a head-to-head. Following that are a few pieces of news, with first impressions of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller and its haptic feedback. There was also a reveal of the Xbox Series X user interface, which stirred up a rather mixed reception.

What a week it’s been in the world of gaming and, more specifically, Microsoft with their big hitter getting delayed - amongst other things. Naturally, the news of Halo Infinite being pushed back is a large focus on TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 43, but other revelations may also cause concern as the Xbox Series X launch gets closer and closer. You could say there are Infinite reasons for Microsoft to worry…
In this episode, Gareth, James and Edgar are ready to delve straight into the Halo delay, including why it had to be done and how detrimental it could be for the Xbox Series X, which was already looking short on exclusive launch titles. On top of that, Apple blocking Microsoft’s xCloud is certainly a blow to gamers worldwide. And to cap off a bad week, it appears as if the console launch date has leaked, stealing the thunder from any upcoming announcements Phil Spencer had prepared.
Fortunately, the games the trio have been playing over the past seven days injects some positivity into proceedings. Gareth has had a blast on the frantically fun Fall Guys, while Edgar decided to replay Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. James invested time into CCG Faeria and reminisced about an old Sega light gun he recently found. There’s also a rather in-depth discussion regarding Train Sim World 2, which releases soon.
Before wrapping up, there’s just time to bring up the fascinating new features coming to FIFA 21, the announcement of the Control Ultimate Edition, and Cyberpunk 2077’s ongoing development saga.

Whilst we have an affinity with all things Xbox related, our team of gaming fanatics gathered for a very PlayStation focused instalment in the wake of their latest event. TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 42 revolves around the recent State of Play and also touches on the Spider-Man exclusivity in Marvel's Avengers. Was the show everything we could’ve hoped for, or is the future looking bleaker?
This week, Gareth, James and Richard share their immediate thoughts about the State of Play as a whole, before launching into the specific PS4, PS5 and VR offerings they’d seen. Crash 4: It’s About Time was an instant hit due to the sheer volume of new gameplay features, a new mode, and a very cool playable character. The trio also covered Hitman 3’s VR demonstration, a deep look at the mystical open-world adventure The Pathless, and the Pokemon alternative, Temtem.
That’s not all though, with unique puzzler The Pedestrian, the intriguing 2.5D action-adventure ANNO: Mutationem, a Spelunky sequel, the critter-filled Bugsnax, and many others talked about.
They couldn’t wrap up the episode without referencing the news of Spider-Man being an exclusive DLC character for Marvel's Avengers on PlayStation. Not everyone is happy with the decision and so the guys attempt to see it from multiple perspectives.

It’s the one you’ve all been waiting for. Yes, the 40th instalment of our popular gaming podcast is finally here. As luck would have it, there’s an Xbox Games Showcase to digest and so that’s our main focus for TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 40. With a whole load of titles shown off for Xbox One and Xbox Series X, are there Infinite reasons to be excited after the Xbox Games Showcase?
In this episode, Gareth and James are joined by Richard, with the aim of sharing their unscripted thoughts on everything they’ve seen during the Xbox Games Showcase. And it kicks off with discussion about the big one, Halo Infinite, which received a demo of the campaign. The open-world feel and inclusion of a grappling hook style feature to Halo pleased some more than others. It wasn’t long before Forza Motorsport got a mention as they speculated what the future holds for the franchise.
While every game is covered throughout the podcast, there were a few that really caught their attention. Games such as Rare’s lovely looking Everwild; Tell Me Why, which caused intrigue with its Life Is Strange vibe; the next huge RPG from Obsidian, Avowed; Psychonauts 2 with Jack Black on the soundtrack; the creepy dual-worlds of The Medium; and the action-MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis.
There was also a chance to check out a few of the pre-show announcements, with the delightful Balan Wonderworld stealing the spotlight. When you’ve got the creative minds behind Sonic on-board, you’re always going to be on the right track towards success.

It hasn’t even been a week since TheXboxHub team recorded a podcast, but they’re back so swiftly for a very specific reason - Ubisoft Forward. That’s right, TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 39 focuses solely on Ubisoft’s recent digital gaming conference, covering the most important aspects from the pre-show and the main event itself. So let’s delve into all it offered and find out if it satisfied our expectations.
Gareth, James, and William jumped straight in and spent a large portion of this episode sharing their thoughts on the big three - Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6. There’s a lot to mention, specifically about the character variety in Watch Dogs: Legion, the exciting combat and raiding in AC Valhalla, and the fantastic actor starring in ‘surprise’ reveal of Far Cry 6. That’s not all though, with free-to-play battle royale Hyper Scape getting some attention alongside a minor Brawlhalla announcement. Tune in to hear news regarding even more games that made an appearance such as Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Trials Rising, and The Crew 2!

After sharing thoughts on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Gareth then gets everyone talking about Ubisoft Forward and the Xbox Series X games event. There are a couple of bold predictions made too.
While the trio haven’t played a ton of games in the last seven days, there’s still a varied bunch to discuss. These range from the classic RTS Age of Empires II to Demolish and Build, which sees you knocking down buildings with a hammer. That’s not all though, with Metroid: Samus Returns on the 3DS getting a look-in as well.
Then there’s a fairly substantial amount of news to digest, including rumours regarding Silent Hill on PS5, the abuse received by folks involved in The Last of Us Part II, and the confirmed release date for WWE 2K Battlegrounds.
